PV Sindhu, Satwik-Chirag and Sai Praneeth reach the quarterfinals of the Indonesian Open

Indian shuttlers continue to impress in Bali at the Indonesian Open. Four Indian shuttlers have reached the quarterfinals of the event. It is a Super 1000 event and therefore the importance of this tournament is unmatched for the Indian stars. India’s current flagbearer in badminton, PV Sindhu has reached the last eight in the Indonesian Open.

The two time Olympic medallist registered a dominant win 21-12, 21-18 over Germany’s Yvonne Li in a match that last only 37 minutes. Yvonne Li who is ranked 26th in the world was hardly any match for Sindhu. This was the duo’s first encounter against each other and Sindhu showed her experience as she won the first game with relative ease. She won seven consecutive points to go one up in the clash.

However, Li turned the tables in the second game as she posed a much greater threat to Sindhu. Despite the German’s best efforts Sindhu never allowed her to take control of the game. The Indian eventually won the match after sealing the second game 21-18 reaching the quarterfinals. Sindhu will now face world No. 54 Sim Yujin of Korea in the quarterfinals.
