Former NBA player Rashad McCants reckons veteran Kevin Durant carried Stephen Curry to two championships. Durant played three seasons for the Golden State Warriors from 2016-17 to 2018-19 and averaged more than 25 points in each of the three editions.
Thus, he played a key role in taking the Dubs to glory in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Meanwhile, Team USA won their 17th Olympic gold medal in Basketball at the recently concluded Paris Olympics.
This was also their fifth consecutive gold at the Games and the likes of Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and LeBron James played an instrumental role in taking their team to glory.
James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists on 66% shooting in the Olympics. The Lakers star was named Olympic MVP after scoring 14 points with six rebounds and 10 assists in the summit clash.
On the other hand, Steph Curry, who scored 36 points against Serbia in the semifinal, added 24 points in the final, including eight three-pointers. The Golden State Warriors star averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.7 steals per game at the Games.
Meanwhile, Durant averaged 13.8 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 22.2 minutes per game in the Olympics.
“If KD really really really wanted to put his foot down, he would be the MVP, because he’s probably the best player on the team,” McCants said on the “Gil’s Arena” show.
McCants continued to shower praise on Kevin Durant for MVP’s skills.
“He’s seven foot, he can shoot just as good as Steph, and carry Steph to two championships,” McCants continued.
“So he can live through Steph’s success too, like, ‘Yeah man, that’s my man!’ But he know what it is. LeBron know what it is. Steph and LeBron, you know what it is,” he added.
