The LA Lakers haven’t been at their best in the last five matches. Surprisingly, the Lakers have lost four out of their previous five matches. Lakers lost their third consecutive match by 127-124 OT against the Washington Wizards and they will need to turn the tables in the coming matches.
It is noticed that the Lakers are desperately missing the services of their talisman Anthony Davis, who has been ruled for four weeks due to an Achilles tendon injury in his right leg. Meanwhile, as Davis is ruled out, the workload has increased on LeBron James. The King scored 31 points and 13 assists but his efforts went in vain as the team lost.
In the last nine games, LeBron is averaging 38 minutes per game, which includes four games of 40+ minutes. He played for 43 minutes in the last match against the Wizards.
As James has been playing continuously, there is a lot of talk about his rest. However, Akron Hammer has rubbished his rest talk after the loss against the Wizards and said that he is here to work and help his teammates.
“I think this whole narrative of ‘LeBron needs more rest’ or I should take more rest or I should take time here, it’s become a lot bigger than what it actually is,” James said. “I’ve never talked about it, I don’t talk about it, I don’t believe in it. We all need more rest, s—. This is a fast turnaround from last season, and we all wish we could have more rest. But I’m here to work, I’m here to punch my clock in and be available to my teammates.
“And if I’m hurt or if I’m not feeling well, then we can look at it then. But I have nothing but honest people [advising me], but I’m also honest with myself, as well, and me having a love for the game and me being able to be available to my teammates is more important than anything.”
James has always shown that he is fit as a fiddle and he has played like a machine. The talisman has worked hard on his fitness and he has been able to reap the rewards. James will look to give his 120% in the coming matches and help his team turn the tables.
The LA Lakers will next take on Utah Jazz on Thursday.
