USA’s superstar LeBron James was delighted after winning Olympic Gold with a 98-87 final win against France. This was US fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal as the American continued their supremacy at the Games.
James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists on 66% shooting in the Olympics and thus played an instrumental role in taking his team to glory.
“I’m just living in the moment super humble that I can still play this game and play it at a high level,” James said as quoted by ESPN. “It came with us winning gold and that’s what’s more important for me. It’s pretty cool.”
LeBron James was named Olympics MVP after scoring 14 points with six rebounds and 10 assist in the summit clash.
On the other hand, Steph Curry, who scored 36 points against Serbia in the semifinal, added 24 points in the final, including eight three-pointers.
“Before every shot you take, you think it’s going in,” Curry said. “All I saw was the rim. I didn’t see who was in front of me. I knew it was kind of a late clock situation, but that one impressed myself.”
USA head coach Steve Kerr lauded Curry for his impressive performance and feels they have the best players in the game.
“I’ve seen that from Steph a few times but it never gets old,” Team USA coach Steve Kerr said. “It’s a global game with a lot of great players, but we still feel we have the greatest players.”
Devin Booker also contributed 15 points in the final and Kerr feels the youngster was unsung MVP for his team.
“Devin was incredible. He completely changed his role from the NBA to now,” Kerr said. “He was kind of our unsung MVP.”
