Los Angeles Lakers talisman LeBron James reckons it will take some time for his team to become the side they are capable of being. The Lakers have struggled to hit the ground running in the preseason and it is alarming for the team as they are not coming up with collective efforts.
Lakers have lost all their five matches in the preseason as their players are struggling to find form and the camaraderie is clearly missing. The Lakers copped their fifth loss of the preseason as they lost to Golden State Warriors by 111-99 on Wednesday.
LeBron James said in the post-match interview after Lakers’ loss against GSW, “It’s going to take a minute to become the team we know we’re capable of being. It’s all about just working the process, being patient with the process, understanding that we’re going to have frustrating moments and we’re going to have moments where we aren’t quite there, we may take a step backward”.
He added, “But, you know, that’s all part of- I think nothing is worth having if it’s not worth working for. And I think it’s gonna-we’re going to hit some moments where we feel like we’re right there, but we’re not quite there yet. I mean, any time you have a new time and a whole new core of guys, it just takes a little minute so, understanding that and always just repeating that to the guys, you know. ”
Meanwhile, the Lakers will look to pull up their socks in the last preseason match against Sacramento Kings, which will be played on Friday (IST). Lakers will aim to find some kind of form before the regular season.
The Lakers have added Russell Westbrook to their roster and he is expected to provide support to LeBron James and Anthony Davis. In fact, the Lakers have already suffered a huge blow as Talen Horton-Tucker has been ruled out and he has undergone surgery on his thumb. Tucker’s condition will now be re-evaluated after four weeks.
Lakers will commence their season against Golden State Warriors on October 20.
