The LA Lakers thrashed the Golden State Warriors by 128-97 on Monday night as they were too good for the opposition. Montrezl Harell was the top-scorer for the Lakers as he scored 27 points whereas LeBron James scored 22 points. Furthermore, the Akron Hammer came up with 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
Thus, James came up with another stellar performance. Apart from these two performances for the Lakers, Kyle Kuzma scored 17 points whereas Talen Horton-Tucker scored 18 points. Furthermore, Kentavious Caldwell Pope scored 14 points for the Lakers. Thus, the team came up with a collective team effort.
On the other hand, Steph Curry also scored 27 points as he was the lone warrior for his team and thus his efforts went in vain. Curry admitted that his team was not up to the mark in their defensive lines and the Lakers were able to get the easy baskets. Furthermore, Curry heaped praise on LeBron James and stated that he can be a playmaker in a lot of different ways for his team.
Curry said after the game, “That’s one of their strong suits. The numbers are crazy, but they have done it well all year. They have enough shooting that they can space you out. LeBron can be a playmaker a lot of different ways. Montrezl was amazing tonight. Put pressure on us down low. I don’t know how much of it was off of offensive rebounds, but the rotation was there.”
“But the secondary rotation was a little late, and they made us pay. We talked about it before, it was the exact opposite of last night. Where you have to protect the three-point line against Utah if you’re going to win. And this is a 180, you have to protect the paint. They have shooters but you got to protect the paint if you want to build momentum because they try to get easy buckets and they did.”
It is not easy to stop LA Lakers when they are on the roll and Golden State Warriors should have done better defensively. The Lakers were relentless in their approach and the Warriors could not even put up a fight with their depleted defense.
The Lakers also won against Minnesota Timberwolves by 137-121 on Tuesday as James recorded his 99th triple-double.
The Lakers will next face Charlotte Hornets on Friday, 8:00 AM IST.
