LeBron James staying with Lakers on $104M deal – Report

LeBron James has signed a $104M deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, ESPN reported on Wednesday. The contract includes a player option for 2025-26 and a no-trade clause. The upcoming season will be the 22nd for LeBron, 39, who will look to deliver his best.

James has been fit as a fiddle and has been going strongly at the top level despite being at the fag end of his career. James joins Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal as one of only two players in the NBA with no-trade clauses.

Earlier, James’ son Bronny James was picked as the 55th selection in this year’s draft by the Lakers. The 19-year-old has agreed to a four-year, $7.9 million deal with a team option in the fourth year.

After 2023 season, James wanted to share the same court with his son.

“I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny,” he said after the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, LeBron James is considered as one of the best players in the NBA and has won four NBA rings. James is the only player in the NBA history with more than 40,000 career points, he is fourth all-time in assists, eighth in steals, eighth in 3-pointers made, and third in free throws made.

Furthermore, last season, James became the first player to make 20 All-Star teams, going past legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. James averaged 25.7 points, 8.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds in the last season.  Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic were the other two players to average 25, 8, and 7 in the last edition of the NBA.
