Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant has predicted that Chris Paul might win his first NBA championship ring in the upcoming season. It has been reported by ESPN that Chris Paul is signing a one-year contract worth more than $11 million with the San Antonio Spurs.
Spurs and Paul had a discussion after the Golden State Warriors decided to part ways with the veteran point guard, making him a free agent.
Paul has all the experience under his belt and the upcoming season with his 20th in the NBA but he is yet to win the NBA championship.
“I love this. Chris Paul might get his first championship ring next year!” Bryant wrote on his X account.
“Paul is one of the all-time best competitors ever in the league,” Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich had said after his team’s loss against the Warriors in March. “He’s a great leader, great competitor. It’s always fun to see him.”
In the previous season with the Dubs, Paul averaged 9.2 points and 6.8 assists in 26.4 minutes but started only 18 of the 58 games he played.
On the other hand, Chris Paul showered praise on the previous season’s number-one pick in the NBA draft, Victor Wembanyama.
Paul said on Pat McAfee’s show last month, “Wemby is different. Wemby’s the guy you’re talking about after the game. Wemby is the guy that, after the game in the locker room we all were talking about playing against him. We literally all had to change how we shot a little bit. … My favorite shot is when I snake back to the right and shoot the fadeaway. I got a picture of him trying to block my shot. Man, I shot the ball so high. I didn’t make it because I usually don’t have to shoot it that high.”
