Tacko Fall is getting another opportunity to return to the NBA.
The Philadelphia 76ers announced Tuesday that they have signed the 7-foot-6 center, along with Jameer Nelson Jr. and Saint Thomas, ahead of training camp. ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that all three players received Exhibit 10 contracts, giving Fall an opportunity to compete for a roster spot after spending the past four seasons outside the NBA.
An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum-salary agreement that can be converted into a two-way contract before the regular season. Philadelphia currently has two of its three two-way positions occupied by Caleb Love and Rayan Rupert. If Fall does not make the NBA roster, the agreement also provides a path for him to remain in the organization with the Delaware Blue Coats in the G League.
The signing does not guarantee Fall a place on Philadelphia’s regular season roster, but it puts him back inside an NBA organization for the first time in several years.
Fall Has Not Played an NBA Game Since 2021
Fall became one of the NBA’s most recognizable reserve players after going undrafted in 2019.
The Senegalese center spent his first two NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2021-22 season. He made his first career NBA start against Boston on Dec. 22, 2021, collecting a career-high 10 rebounds.
That season was also his last in the NBA.
Fall has appeared in 37 NBA games, averaging 2.2 points and approximately 2.4 rebounds while playing just over six minutes per game.
His extraordinary size has always separated him physically. At the 2019 NBA Draft Combine, Fall measured 7-foot-7 in shoes, with an 8-foot-2¼ wingspan and 10-foot-2½ standing reach, setting combine records in all three measurements.
After leaving Cleveland, Fall continued his career overseas.
He played for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and Nanjing Monkey Kings in China before spending the 2024-25 season with the New Zealand Breakers in Australia’s NBL. Fall then returned to China with the Ningbo Rockets.
During the 2025-26 CBA regular season, Fall averaged 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds in 17.2 minutes across 38 games for Ningbo.
Fall Gives Sixers Another Option Behind Joel Embiid
Philadelphia’s decision to bring Fall to camp also gives the team another center to evaluate behind Joel Embiid.
The Sixers currently have Adem Bona and Ariel Hukporti among their primary depth options at center. Bona averaged 4.8 points in 16.6 minutes last season, while Hukporti averaged 2.2 points in 9.2 minutes.
Fall offers something completely different.
His size gives him an obvious presence around the rim as a rebounder, screener and interior defender. His challenge throughout his NBA career has been proving he can remain effective when opponents increase the pace or force him to defend away from the basket.
Philadelphia can evaluate those limitations during training camp without committing a guaranteed regular season roster position.
The Sixers have significantly increased expectations for the upcoming season after an offseason in which they acquired Jaylen Brown and LeBron James, adding them to a roster featuring Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
Fall is entering camp from a very different position.
He is not arriving as a guaranteed rotation player or even a guaranteed member of Philadelphia’s opening-night roster. The Exhibit 10 contract gives the 30-year-old a chance to prove that four seasons of playing overseas have prepared him for another NBA opportunity.
For the first time since his stint with Cleveland ended, Tacko Fall has a legitimate route back onto an NBA roster.
