Los Angeles Lakers talisman Anthony Davis was utterly disappointed with his team’s performance after they had gone down against Minnesota Timberwolves by a massive margin of 107-83. Davis had urged his teammates to come up with a better show as they were not up to the mark against the Timberwolves on Friday.
Davis and the Lakers both lifted themselves after a big loss as they defeated San Antonio Spurs by 114-106 on Sunday. The talisman himself lead from the front as he top-scored for his team with 34 points, with 27 of them coming in the first half. Furthermore, Davis also dropped 15 rebounds and six assists to come up with a complete performance.
The team’s head coach Frank Vogel showered praise on Anthony Davis for his fine rendition and stated that he imposes his will on the game.
“Anthony really imposes his will on this game,” Vogel said of Davis. “I think he, probably more than anyone, was unhappy with how last game unfolded and he was intent to impose his will.”
On the other hand, Talen Horton-Tucker played for the first time after undergoing the knife to repair a ligament on his right thumb. Tucker was able to hit the ground running for the Lakers as he scored 17 points on the 7/14 shooting.
“To come out in his first game and do what he did was unreal,” Davis said of Horton-Tucker. “I’m impressed. His first game and to come in and do what he did to help us win was huge and a sign of his hard work. A lot of guys usually come back and are kind of rusty, but he came in like he had been playing with us this whole time.”
Tucker started for the Lakers on Sunday but Vogel didn’t confirm whether it will be a consistent strategy by him.
“We’ll see,” Vogel said. “He’s going to be a big part of what we do, though. We know that. We invested in him this summer for a reason. We have a strong belief in that young man and what he can do on both sides of the ball. Obviously, when we get whole, we got a lot of good choices, but he’s going to be a big part of it.”
The Lakers will next face Chicago Bulls on Monday.
