New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson has impressed one and all with his skills. In fact, Williamson had hogged the limelight when he was only 16-years old. The 20-year old youngster has shown all the skills to go a long way in his career and he is proving that he is meant for bigger things.
The New Orleans Pelicans had picked Zion Williamson as the number one draft in the 2019 season. With Williamson’s impressive skills, it was expected that he would be a hot contender to win the Rookie of the year award. However, things didn’t go as planned for the youngster from Salisbury, North Carolina as he struggled with his knee injury woes.
Zion played a total of 24 games in his maiden season for the New Orleans Pelicans as he averaged 22.5 points per game. There is no doubt that had Zion played the entire season for his team, he would have put his hat in the ring for the Rookie of the year award.
Meanwhile, Zion has worked hard on his fitness and he is looking more fit after working hard. It is time that Zion reap fruits for the work he has put on his body.
Zion played the 25th match of his career for the New Orleans Pelicans when the team locked horns with Toronto Raptors in their opening match of the season. The Pelicans won the game convincingly by 113-99 and Zion scored 15 points. The 20-year almost broke Allen Iverson’s 14-year old record and he could have surpassed Iverson’s elite record had he scored two more points.
Zion Williamson now has 555 career points. That is the most through a player’s first 25 career games since Allen Iverson (556). Zion will look to continue the good work for his team in the coming matches.
