Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has backed India to perform well in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series against Australia. After India was whitewashed by New Zealand while playing at home, many cricket boffins believe they will be thoroughly dominated by Australia.
However, the Prince of Kolkata thinks otherwise as he backed the visitors to turn the tables. India has won the last two Test series against Australia while playing away and hasn’t lost a series against the Aussies in the last decade.
Indian batters aren’t in the best of forms whereas Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will miss the opening Test at Perth.
Sourav Ganguly said on RevSportz, “They are a good side, and, against Australia, it is going to be a fascinating series. A lot of people are saying they will be whitewashed, but I do not think so. The pitches will be better.”
Ganguly picked India vs Australia and India vs England as the two most exciting series whereas he feels this will be the last visit to Australia for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
“I think for me, at the moment, India-Australia, India-England are two of the best series in world cricket. Obviously, Ashes is there. But I think these two series will be keenly watched and going through social media, through news and all,” the former India captain said.
“I can feel there is a lot of excitement in Australia. Rightfully so for five test matches, Kohli and Rohit may not be going back to the country again after this, there is enough in this series. It is going to be a fascinating series and I am looking forward to it,” Ganguly concluded.
The opening Test match between India and Australia will be played at Perth from November 22 onwards.
