Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra highlighted India’s recent dominance over Pakistan after the Men in Blue defeated their arch-rivals by 19 runs in the Asian Games 2026 final to win the Gold Medal on Saturday.
The win gave India their seventh straight T20I win against Pakistan. The Men in Green last defeated India in the 2021 T20 World Cup, when they registered a 10-wicket win.
India has won 15 out of the 18 matches against Pakistan in T20Is with the latter registering only three wins.
Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel, “We were ahead by 10-0, now it would be 11. It’s like wake up in the morning, beat Pakistan, and sleep peacefully at night. That’s how it feels at this point in time.”
On the other hand, the renowned commentator praised Abhishek Sharma for scoring an impressive knock of 61 runs off just 28 balls against Pakistan. The left-hander smashed three fours and seven sixes in his blistering knock.
“Abhishek Sharma once again showed why he is such a special player. Once in a while, even if there is some bad form, you want to be there and stand by him because he is that good a player. He scores runs consistently, and this time, he smashed them to his heart’s content.”
Chopra also lavished praise on Tilak Varma for scoring 51 runs off just 22 balls and helping India post 211 runs on the board.
“He loves thrashing Pakistan. He did it in the Asia Cup final, and here too. In fact, he scored 38 runs in the last 11 balls he faced,” he added.
India will next take on the West Indies in a five-match T20I series, starting Tuesday.
