Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra believes there might not be any big bids in IPL 2027 mini auction. Mostly it has been noted that teams make massive bids in the mini auction if a big player signs up but Chopra thinks so such player is available in the market.

The mini auction will be held in Goa in the middle of December. Meanwhile, all 10 teams will look to fill in the missing pieces in their squad in the mini-auction.

“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations – Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi last year – we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” Saikia told ANI.

“I am quite excited for this auction. Usually, in the mini auction, you can always make a small course correction. You can’t change the world because the teams are already built. Good players are not released back into the auction. The rare one or two good players that come are sold for extremely high amounts. Could there be someone like that this year? I don’t think anyone like that is there in the market this time. There is not a big name at this time, but things could change after players are released by franchises,” Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Chopra questioned why auctions are not held in India in December and highlighted that challenges for the BCCI to host the event in India.

“This time, the auction will be held in India. December is generally the wedding season, so that has always been a problem for BCCI. They say that, ‘We can’t find a hotel where we can accommodate so many people at that time’. It is there, but why is it there? That is what I am trying to understand. Why does this happen? If they know that the auction is held in December, they can organise it, right? There are so many big cities and hotels in India, can there not be a tie-up? I think it can be organised,” Aakash Chopra said.

The mini auction will take place on December 15 and 16.
