Former Indian Test opener Aakash Chopra believes Prince Yadav could replace Prasidh Krishna in India’s playing XI for the second ODI against Afghanistan on Wednesday. Chopra highlighted that Krishna played the whole IPL 2026 for Gujarat Titans and he was also part of India’s Test playing XI for the one-off game against the visitors.
Krishna returned with figures of 0-35 in five he bowled in the opening ODI against Afghanistan at Dharamshala on Saturday. Chopra said it is unlikely that Kuldeep Yadav will get back into the final XI after Harsh Dubey bagged three wickets on his debut.
“It seems like they won’t play Kuldeep. We felt you played Harsh Dubey because it was a 25-over match, but that wasn’t the case because he was told the previous evening that he would be playing. So, there was no plan to play Kuldeep, and it won’t change either because it will be a similar kind of surface in Lucknow,” Chopra said on his YouTube Channel.
“There will be help once again for Gurnoor Brar here. You can play Prince Yadav in place of Prasidh Krishna if you wish. You may toy with that idea because Prasidh plays a lot of cricket. He was playing the Test recently and has played the entire IPL. Prince has played on this ground itself for LSG, and he has done well. So maybe you want to try him,” he added.
The renowned commentator urged Washington Sundar to perform better with the ball after he conceded 19 runs in a solitary over he bowled in the opening ODI.
“I want better bowling from Washington. He bats very well, but the performance hasn’t been that good in bowling. You are going to be Ashwin’s replacement, but to reach there, he needs to bowl a lot better,” he observed.
The former Delhi cricketer wants Rohit Sharma to have a good time in the second ODI after he was run out for 16 in the series opener.
“I am looking at only two or three guys in batting. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill have batted like a dream. Ishan Kishan scored 34 runs. He also batted decently. Rohit Sharma got run out. So you want him to have a good game,” he said.
The second ODI between India and Afghanistan will be played at Lucknow on Wednesday.
