Former Australian skipper Aaron Finch has showered praise on ‘world-class’ Jasprit Bumrah for his outstanding performance in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series against Australia. Bumrah is breathing fire in the ongoing series as he has scalped 21 wickets in three Test matches at an average of 10.90.
The Indian gun fast bowler scalped nine wickets in the third Test match at the Gabba, Brisbane. Bumrah was awarded Player of the Match for returning with match figures of 8-72 at Perth.
Bumrah has looked threatening in each of his spells and he has breathed down the neck of the opposition batters. The ace pacer has consistently troubled the Australian openers with the new red ball as he has been right on the money from the get-go.
“He’s a world-class bowler. He’s as good as we’ve seen in this country for a long, long time. Few of those guys are in a rocking chair, I reckon, going back and forth, just saying, ‘Don’t come at me again, Jasprit,'” Finch said on ESPN’s Around the Wicket Show.
On the other hand, former Australian skipper Michael Clarke tipped Bumrah as the best bowler across all formats of the game as he has been consistent for India.
“He’s the best bowler across all three formats. This summer, he’s proving that he’s definitely the best Test bowler. I think we’ve seen it in the shorter formats, but this summer we’re seeing it. Conditions have been good for that brand new ball, it you are on the bowler side of things, but his record is phenomenal. You can’t hide behind it.”
Bumrah needs six more wickets to complete 200 scalps in Test cricket. The fourth Test match between India and Australia will be played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground from 26th December.
