Former Indian batter Ajay Jadeja slammed Sanju Samson after the Indian opener once again failed to deliver the goods in the fifth T20I against New Zealand at Seddon Park, Hamilton on Sunday.
Samson struggled to find any momentum in his innings and was dismissed after scoring four runs off 10 balls. The ball was moving around a bit in the Powerplay overs but Samson could not find his timing.
Samson scored 107 runs in five matches of the series at an average of 21.40 and a strike rate of 142.67.
Jadeja said Samson’s technique of moving towards the leg-stump has been exposed by the New Zealand bowlers.
“It’s frustrating to watch Sanju Samson bat. He always moves towards the sixth-stump line, expecting the bowler to pitch it up so he can smash it over the covers 🤨 But over the last three matches, New Zealand’s bowlers have figured him out and his technique has been exposed 😵,” former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja wrote on X.
On the other hand, former Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin trolled a fan, who tagged him and questioned Samson’s performance in the series.
“Sanju is my first choice, he’s your full-time obsession 😂,” he replied to the comment on X.
Samson scored an impressive knock of 67 runs off just 33 balls in the series opener at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch and was awarded Player of the match. However, barring that knock, the Indian opener failed to deliver the goods consistently for the team throughout the series.
India will now take on New Zealand in a five-match ODI series.
