Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu showered praise on Sunrisers Hyderabad greenhorn pacer Praful Hinge after Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a convincing 57-run win against Rajasthan Royals at Hyderabad on Monday. SRH posted a par score of 216 runs on the board and then skittled out RR at 159.
Rayudu highlighted that the fast bowler hurried the RR batters with his extra pace and skid. Hinge got three wickets in his first over to get off to a dream start in the IPL.
The fast bowler dismissed in-form Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a golden duck. One ball later, another in-form batter Dhruv Jurel, chopped the ball back onto his stumps. On the final delivery of his game, the 24-year-old pacer from Vidarbha also accounted for Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
Thus, Hinge became the first bowler in IPL history to take three wickets in the first over of an IPL innings. Hinge returned with impressive figures of 4-34 and was awarded Player of the Match.
Ambati Rayudu said on ESPN Cricinfo, “He has pace and is quite skiddy. You generally don’t see that with young Indian fast bowlers these day. This guy can swing the ball and can hurry the batsman as well. We have seen him bowl very good inswingers. That is very refreshing. Over the years, we have seen a lot of bowlers who bowl inswing be successful in the IPL and international cricket. So, it’s good early signs for him and SRH.”
On the other hand, Rayudu also praised other SRH debutant Sakib Hussain after he bagged 4-24 in his four overs. The former CSK batter said the Bihar pacer has a beautiful slower delivery.
He added, “He is still bowling as quick as what he was bowling back them [in 2023]. HIs control is very much improved and he has a beautiful slower ball. Even though you know he’s bowling a slower ball, it’s not easy. It’s dipping on you and tends to follow you as a right-hander. It’s a very good weapon to have and he will also be effective against left-handers. Also, his action is not simple to pick up.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next take on Chennai Super Kings at Hyderabad on Saturday.
