Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu lavished praise on Dhruv Jurel after Rajasthan Royals registered a comprehensive six-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Friday.
Rayudu said the wicket-keeper bat sometimes doesn’t get the credit he deserves. Jurel scored an unbeaten knock of 81 runs off just 43 balls with the help of eight fours and three sixes in the run-chase of 202 against RCB.
He added 108 runs with Vaibhav Suryavanshi with the latter doing the bulk of the scoring, whereas the right-hander added 68 runs with Ravindra Jadeja to take RR over the line.
Ambati Rayudu said on ESPN Cricinfo, “He has shown a lot of class in terms of skill and temperament. He really stood out and looks to be a very mature batsman now. It’s time that he steps up in all formats of the game. The world needs to talk about him a little more than what they generally do. He’s flying under the radar. In Indian cricket, I don’t see many people being more talented than him in terms of being a complete batsman.”
On the other hand, former Australian skipper Aaron Finch praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his aggressive approach. The young lad scored a stunning knock of 78 runs off just 26 balls with the help of eight fours and seven sixes as he continues to impress in the IPL.
Finch said, “His technique, his temperament, his ability to sum up the situation… Pace and spin, he’s got the complete game. How easy he made batting look when he first walked out to the crease was something else. He came out and hit the ball from the middle of the bat from ball one. It was brilliant and that was a big reason why Vaibhav was able to continue to go [after the bowling].”
Rajasthan Royals will next take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Hyderabad on Monday.
