Former Indian spinner Anil Kumble has predicted that Arshdeep Singh and Ishan Kishan are going to be the next superstars. Both of these players have impressed in their young careers and they have shown the potential to go a long way.
Kumble has observed Arshdeep Singh from close quarters while working as the head coach of Punjab Kings. Singh has scalped 39 wickets in 25 T20I matches at an average of 18.28 and an economy rate of 8.5. The youngster has shown that he can bowl the difficult overs for the team and deliver in the crunch situations of the game.
However, Singh has struggled a bit with the no-balls and needs to improve himself in that aspect of his game.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan scored a magnificent knock of 210 runs in the third ODI against Bangladesh in 2022. However, the left-hander hasn’t been able to carry the same form in the recent matches against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
“Having worked closely with someone like Arshdeep, it’s wonderful to see him grow into what he’s done for India. I would look at Arshdeep as the next superstar bowler coming through,” said Kumble on JioCinema.
“From a batting perspective, Ishan Kishan is someone who’s been wonderful in the opportunities he’s got. He got a double hundred and he’s someone who I think will be a superstar,” Kumble said.
India’s former wicket-keeper batter Parthiv Patel named Umran Malik and Tilak Varma as two players to watch out for in the future.
“He’s (Umran) quick and bowling well and already played for India. He’s someone who can be a superstar. Batting-wise, having seen Tilak Varma in the last couple of years, I had the opportunity to scout him and see the cricketer he has become. We’ve seen his batting ability, and he has the ability to go on and lead the side. He’s someone who comes across as a leader,” Patel said.
India has a lot of talent and many young players are rising through the ranks in the domestic circuit.
