Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammed Amir has hailed Arshdeep Singh for his recent performances and feels he can be a very good left-arm pacer. Singh has impressed with his ability to swing the new ball both ways and he can also nail the yorkers in the death overs.
The fast bowler from Punjab bagged 10 wickets in the three ODI matches at an impressive average of 9.50 against South Africa. Singh had gone wicketless in his first three ODI matches of his career.
Singh also returned with impressive figures of 3-32 in the second T20I against Afghanistan at Indore. The 24-year-old has scalped 10 wickets in six ODI matches so far whereas he has picked 62 wickets in 44 T20I matches.
“Arshdeep Singh can be India’s dependable left-arm pacer,” Mohammed Amir said during a virtual media interaction on the sidelines of a recent ILT20 match.
“Arshdeep can be a very good left-arm pacer. India needs one who can consistently bowl at 135-140,” Amir added.
On the other hand, Amir added that the most impressive and improved Indian bowler is Mohammed Siraj. The fast bowler from Hyderabad recently bagged 6-15 in the first innings of the second Test match against South Africa at Newlands, Cape Town.
“From the last two-three years, the most impressive has been Mohammed Siraj. The way he has improved in white-ball cricket, it’s a good sign for Indian cricket.”
Amir also hailed India’s team management rotation policy to keep the workload of the players in check.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj is going to hold the key in the upcoming five-match Test series against England along with Jasprit Bumrah whereas Arshdeep Singh hasn’t been picked in the Test squad.
India and England will take on each other in the first Test match from 25th January onwards at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
