Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has claimed that Arshdeep Singh will be a fantastic option for India in the T20 World Cup and the upcoming Asia Cup. Singh has impressed with his ability to nail the yorkers and he can make a great bowling combination with Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
The youngster had done a fine job in Tata Indian Premier League 2022 while playing for the Punjab Kings. The left-arm pacer had scalped 10 wickets in 14 matches and bowled with an economy rate of 7.70. Singh had bowled around 40 yorkers in the IPL, which was the most for any bowler.
Subsequently, he was able to get a maiden call-up into the Indian team for the T20I series against South Africa. Singh was given his maiden T20I cap against England and he made an impressive debut. The left-arm pacer scalped two wickets and troubled the English batters with his swing and accuracy.
“Mark my words. Arshdeep will play the third ODI and make an impact too. Arshdeep has the art, and he uses his mind while bowling. He bowls sensibly and knows how to take wickets. He can be a fantastic option for the Indian team for T20 World Cup and maybe for Asia Cup as well. Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and he can be successful being a left-arm pacer,” said Kaneria on his YouTube Channel.
Furthermore, the former Pakistan leg-spinner also wants T Natarajan to be part of the Indian squad. Natarajan hasn’t played in the recent past due to his injury troubles. The left-arm pacer had scalped 18 wickets in 11 matches. Natarajan is also known for bowling accurately in the death overs and he is known to nail his yorkers.
“I want to also see Natarajan playing for India again. He can make an impact just like he did in Australia. He is a fantastic bowler, but India has currently got an incredible bowling lot. Team management has to decide how to utilize its bowlers,” said Kaneria.
There is no doubt that India has a plethora of options to choose from and a lot of young players are rising through the ranks because of the IPL. These youngsters are also grabbing their chances with both hands, which are great signs for Indian cricket.
