Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne feels Mitchell Marsh’s confidence makes him a dangerous player. Marsh has been batting at his best in the ongoing Ashes and he is batting unbeaten on 31 in the second innings of the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Marsh had also scored a run-a-ball 118 in the first innings of the third Test match at Leeds, Headingley. Furthermore, the right-hander scored 28 runs in the second innings and also scalped two wickets in the third Test match. Ergo, he was retained in the final XI of the fourth Test match, despite Cameron Green returning to the side.
Marsh has shown that he has the skills to turn the match on its head with his blistering batting and he is going to hold the key for Australia if the visitors have to manage a draw on the final day of the fourth Test match.
Meanwhile, Marsh and Marnus Labuschagne added a fine alliance of 103 runs for Australia in the second innings. Labuschagne finally converted his start into a big score as he added 111 runs for the tourists.
“Seeing him bat, even in the one-dayers, and seeing him bat in the nets, and the confidence he has in his game at the moment, I definitely had no doubt when he came in (to the Test side) the way he was going to play,” Labuschagne said while talking to the host broadcasters
“The confidence he has in his own game is amazing. He’s got so much trust in the way he’s playing. When it is like that, it makes you a dangerous player.”
Marsh had also scored 51 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test match but went wicketless with the ball. The right-hander will want to deliver the goods on the final day of the Test match and help visitors in drawing the game.
Marsh has been troubled by a plethora of injuries in his career and he has a chance to prove his mettle in the rest of the Ashes.
