Former Indian batter Abhishek Nayar reckons having Jasprit Bumrah back is amazing for India. Bumrah recently made a return to International cricket, taking four wickets in two T20Is against Ireland while leading the team.
The gun fast bowler was included in India’s playing XI for the high-octane clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup but didn’t get to bowl as the match was called off due to rain.
Bumrah then had to fly back home for the birth of his first child before the match against Nepal. The ace pacer will be available for selection for the Sunday clash against Pakistan and there is no doubt he is going to hold the key.
Jasprit Bumrah has picked up 121 wickets in 72 ODI matches at an average of 24.3 and an economy rate of 4.63.
“Bumrah being Bumrah and having Bumrah in the side, I think for any opposition, somewhere or the other they would have started thinking because you know how much ability Bumrah has,” said Nayar on JioCinema.
“You know what Bumrah brings to the table. You get a bowler who can bowl with the new ball, in the middle overs and especially at the death, which he is known for, for his yorkers. So having someone who can bowl at that sort of pace in that attack is absolutely lethal. So having Bumrah back is amazing,” Nayar added.
All eyes will be on Bumrah’s fitness and how he goes about his business to deliver 10 overs in the ODI format. Bumrah is known for his accurate line and length, he can also get the ball to swing and seam. Furthermore, he is lethal in the death overs with his deadly yorkers and slower ball variations.
India will take on Pakistan in the Super Fours stage at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on Sunday.
