Former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar lauded Mohammed Siraj’s spell on the second day of the opening Test match against Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chhatogram on Thursday. Agarkar said there is no weakness in Siraj’s bowling as he has been right on the money.
Siraj scalped three wickets in the first innings as he bowled at the top of his game. The fast bowler dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto on the first ball of the innings with a perfect delivery, which came back slightly into the left-hander to take the outside edge.
Siraj then also dismissed debutant Zakir Hasan and had the final laugh against Litton Das after exchanging a few words with the batter.
Siraj finished with impressive figures of 3-20 and played a key role in bundling out the opposition at 150.
Ajit Agarkar said on Sony Sports, “There is no weakness seen in his bowling. If you have to bowl fast through the air and pitch it up, he can do that. If you have to hit the length, he can do that. When the ball releases properly from his hand, there is outswing to the right-handers. So he has the ability and can do different styles of bowling.”
Agarkar hailed Mohammed Siraj for giving his 120% on the field to reap rewards in the first innings.
“It has been a highlight of his career that whenever you see his bowling, he puts in his full effort in every over and every delivery. I am not saying that no one else does that but it has been a highlight.”
The former fast bowler heaped praise on Siraj for bowling an accurate line and length against Bangladesh.
“It was amazing bowling. The grouping was good. The length seems to be slightly short but the line was absolutely straight. It is not the line outside off-stump, where the batter can let it go and that if it remains low, it will not hit the stumps.”
“The lines were extremely tight and because he has the speed, when there is uneven bounce, the batters don’t get time to adjust. Litton Das was looking good and if you have to dismiss a good batter who has spent some time, you need to have the ability which he has.”
India is 36-0 and they have a huge lead of 290 runs in the second innings.
