Royal Challengers Bengaluru veteran wicket-keeper bat Dinesh Karthik has revealed that the plan is to dominate the opposition bowlers. RCB has made a strong comeback in the ongoing IPL 2024 as they have won their last four matches on the bounce.
The Faf du Plessis-led team registered a 60-run win against Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium, Dharamsala on Thursday. RCB posted a par score of 241 runs on the board after Sam Curran decided to bowl first.
Virat Kohli scored a fine knock of 92 runs off just 47 balls with the help of seven fours and six maximums. Rajat Patidar also continued to impress as he scored 55 runs off 23 balls whereas Cameron Green also played a crucial knock of 46 runs off 27 balls.
Moreover, Dinesh Karthik added the finishing touches with a 7-ball 18 to help RCB go past the 240-run mark.
“I think this is the feeling that we are used to sometimes now. We have to win every game, we have done really well, long way to go but this the feeling that we are getting used to. Try and repeat things which we have done well. We have been bowling in good areas, taking on the bowlers upfront, keeping that pressure on the bowler. So, things that have worked for us, try and repeat it again and again,” Karthik said while talking to the host broadcaster.
“I think so, especially with the bat. Earlier we were taking the softer option with the bat, but we are taking the harder option now. We are trying to put the pressure on the bowlers. The bowlers have been taken to the cleaners, the pitches are good and boundaries are short,” Karthik said on risk-taking approach.
Karthik said he is not a big fan of pitches, which are batting-friendly and there should be a contest between bat and ball.
“I am not big on wickets that are completely in favour of batters, I think there should be an even contest between the bat and ball. What I am hearing is that people are loving those 270-280 totals, at the end of the day people who watch the sport that matter. There’s a lot of freedom as a batter but there’s pressure as well, you got to up your game. Need to be consistent and score those runs,” Karthik said.
RCB will next take on Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday.
