Former Indian wicket-keeper bat Dinesh Karthik has revealed that the biggest challenge for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be his ability to deal with external noise off the field. Sooryavanshi has hogged the limelight for the right reasons in the recent past after impressing one and all with his pyrotechnics.
The left-hander recently scored 776 runs in 16 matches of IPL 2026 at a blistering strike rate of 237.30. Ergo, he received his maiden T20I call-up for the UK tour.
Dinesh Karthik said on Sky Sports, “His ability to strike around the ground with the tempo he does it at, while not being fazed by whoever his opponent is, makes him special. Like everybody in life, I am sure he’ll face issues with batting and things that happen off the field. He needs to learn to deal with it better.”
Karthik said the youngster has all the skills to go all the way in his career and break every T20 record, which is there in the history books.
“At this moment, most of the things are rosy. Sky is the limit and he can be an extraordinary T20 batter. There is no reason why he can’t break any record that’s out there. My one piece of advice would be to learn to deal with a lot of the noise off the field in a very healthy manner because that’s going to be his biggest challenge,” said Karthik (via the aforementioned source).
Sooryavanshi has been the cynosure of all eyes and it is imperative for him to handle the fame with care. The prodigy batter was recently involved in an altercation with Sri Lankan player Vishen Halambage and he must try to avoid such incidents.
The youngster didn’t get his chances in two T20Is against Ireland and also didn’t make his debut in the first T20I against England.
