Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has urged India and Virat Kohli to take part in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which is set to be hosted by Pakistan. India recently has shown their reluctance to travel to the neighbouring country, owing to the political differences between the two countries.
India last travelled to Pakistan back in 2008 and since then the two arch rivals have taken on each other in only major ICC tournaments. Khan said Kohli will receive a lot of love in Pakistan and they are eagerly waiting to see him in action.
Kohli has never played a single match on Pakistan shores at the International level and it will be interesting to note’s BCCI final call regarding their participation in the Champions Trophy.
Younis Khan told News24 as quoted by Times of India, “Virat Kohli yahan pe aayein aur aake wo waise hi perform kare. Ek feather reh gaya hai unke career mein ki unhone Pakistan mai nahi khela.
“Agar wo aayenge toh hum sabko bohot acha lagega (Virat Kohli should come to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, it’s our wish too. I think the only thing left in Kohli’s career is to tour Pakistan and perform in Pakistan. If he comes, we will be very happy).”
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli recently retired from T20Is after India lifted the T20 World Cup in Barbados. Kohli was not in the best of forms throughout the tournament but played a match-winning knock of 76 runs off 59 balls to help India post 176 runs on the board.
On the other hand, Kohli scored 492 runs in 11 T20I matches against Pakistan at an average of 70.28 and a strike rate of 123.92.
Kohli will be seen in action in the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
