Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel feels Rishabh Pant is the future of Indian cricket. Pant has impressed with his pyrotechnics and has the skills to turn the match on its head.
The left-hander was able to turn his career after the Australian tour as he had scored 274 runs in the three Test matches he played.
The southpaw scored a whirlwind knock of 97 runs in the Sydney Test match and almost took India to a win. Subsequently, he scored a blistering knock of 89 runs in the historic Gabba Test match and took India to an emphatic series win.
The left-hander then continued his good form in the four-match Test series against England in the home conditions. The attacking batsman scored 270 runs in the four Test matches and played at the top of his game.
“Rishabh Pant is the future of Indian cricket. He is fearless. What I really like about him. When I was a standby wicketkeeper on a tour in 2018 and he was the first choice keeper, his attitude and will to improve his wicket keeping all the time. He worked really hard on his wicketkeeping. He kept brilliantly on the turning wickets in India-England home series,” Parthiv Patel stated on the Curtly and Karishma show.
Patel added that Pant is taking more responsibility while batting. It was noticed that Pant was playing over aggressively in the initial stages of his career but he has definitely matured in the recent past. However, Pant’s attacking shot in the second innings of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand raised eyebrows from the cricket pundits across the globe.
“He is taking more responsibility while batting. He is playing match-winning knocks in Test cricket. That is something that defines a cricketer,” Parthiv Patel signed off.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is going to hold the key in the Test series against England and he has the experience of playing in the English conditions. Pant was recently tested positive for Covid-19 but he has recovered from the virus.
The first Test match between India and England will be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham from August 4.
