India’s pack leader Bhuvneshwar Kumar has said he never thought his India career was over despite the recent struggle with injuries and form. Kumar didn’t have the best IPL 2022 for SunRisers Hyderabad as he could only take 12 wickets in 14 matches.
However, Kumar has been getting a lot of help in the favorable English conditions and is bowling at the top of his game against England. The medium-pacer returned with impressive figures of 3-15 in his three overs in the second T20I at Edgbaston, Birmingham on Saturday.
Kumar has got the ball to swing consistently both ways and he is troubling the opposition batters with the new ball. The right-arm pacer has great control and he is right on the money with his line and length.
Kumar has done a fine job and he has definitely made a case for himself for the T20 World Cup. The experienced seamer was awarded the Player of the Match for his fine bowling show in the second T20I against England.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar said in the post-match press conference, “I never thought that it, that was it for me, but yes, I was working with the physios, trainers and doing my thing. And of course, when you are out of the game you’re never confident. You just, feel a bit frustrated or disappointed, but you want to come back. And luckily I know I came back and (I’m) playing for India again.”
“When ball swings, you definitely enjoy. In the last few years, there is not much help with the ball in England but this year it’s more. White ball getting swing upfront is a motivational factor for fast bowler and batters have to take their chances. We know Buttler is a dangerous player. If ball swings I go for a wicket and it works. If ball swings, it motivates you to do things against a particular batsman,” he said.
Kumar has been in sublime form as he has scalped 12 wickets in the last eight innings for Team India in the T20I format. The fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh will look to continue his good show for the Men in Blue and keep delivering the goods for his team.
Bhuvneshwar has all the experience under his belt and he will aim to make the most of it in the upcoming matches.
