Former South African skipper AB de Villiers has hailed Rinku Singh for his consistent performances at the top level. Singh has played the finisher role with great success in T20Is and he has definitely gained in confidence.
The left-hander scored 94 runs in three T20Is against Afghanistan at a blistering strike rate of 164.91. Rinku showed he can not only play the finisher role with great success but he can also play with maturity when the chips are down.
India was under the cosh at 22-4 in the third game against Afghanistan at Bengaluru when Singh joined forces with Rohit Sharma. The duo added 190 runs for the fifth-wicket alliance to help India post 212 runs on the board. The southpaw scored a fine knock of 69 runs whereas Rohit scored a blistering knock of 121 runs for the hosts.
“Rinku is a fantastic player, a match-winner, and it is good to see him become consistent as well. You need to be a consistent player who is always trying to win games for your team,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube Channel.
Rinku has played 15 T20I games for India, amassing 356 runs at an exceptional average of 89, including two fifites and thus he has definitely put his name in contention for T20 World Cup selection.
Singh has also scored 725 runs in 31 IPL matches at an impressive average of 36.25 and strike rate of 142.16, including four half-centuries. The 26-year-old from Aligarh will look to continue his good form in the upcoming IPL 2024 for Kolkata Knight Riders.
IPL 2024 will begin from March 22 onwards whereas India will next face England in a five-match Test series.
