Former Indian batter Hanuma Vihari has showered praise on Shubman Gill for his consistent performances in the ongoing IPL 2026. Gill has scored 616 runs in 13 matches of IPL 2026 at an average of 47.38 and a strike rate of 161.67 and he is currently the second highest run getter in the season after Sai Sudharsan.
The GT skipper has led from the front and has played an instrumental role in his team’s success. Gill was left out of India’s T20 World Cup squad but he has made a cautious effort to increase his strike rate in the ongoing IPL season.
“Shubman Gill is someone who is in great form. He has matched Kohli innings by innings. He will try to show that I am the boss here, and he is that kind of player. Prince versus King is the battle to watch out for. The team that bats better in the powerplay will have an advantage in winning this game,” Hanuma Vihari said on his YouTube channel.
Vihari added that RCB veteran batter Virat Kohli will hold the key in the all-important game. Kohli has scored 557 runs in 14 matches of the ongoing season.
“I think Virat Kohli will be the key. In big matches, big players step up. If someone has to face Siraj and Rabada, Kohli has the quality. Undoubtedly, he will be the key player for RCB. The bigger the match, the more he likes the occasion when the opportunity is there,” he said.
Vihari said Kohli will play according to the conditions at Dharamshala against GT.
“Virat Kohli will play the conditions. He is one guy in that RCB team who will respect the conditions and bat. Last year’s final is the prime example. His knock there in Ahmedabad was enough because in a pressure situation, runs on the board are runs on the board,” he added.
Kohli will look to bring his best in the final against GT.
