Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh reckons Suryakumar Yadav is due for some runs in a big game ahead of the T20 World Cup semifinal against England. Yadav has scored 231 runs in seven matches of the T20 World Cup 2026 at an average of 38.50 and a strike rate of 135.88.
Barring scoring a match-winning knock of 84 runs off just 49 balls against the USA, SKY hasn’t been at his absolute best in the ongoing T20I showpiece.
Yadav scored only 18 runs off 16 balls in the last game against the West Indies, and he would need to lead from the front against England.
Harbhajan Singh said India will start the semifinal clash as favorites against England, and SKY has a perfect opportunity to prove his mettle.
“I think India are ahead. The bowling is solid, and the batting is such that someone or the other steps up. Whether it be Ishan Kishan against Pakistan, or Suryakumar Yadav against the USA. Suryakumar Yadav is due for some runs in a big game. He is due for runs against a big team, and I think this is the right opportunity,” Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel.
Singh said even if India plays 75% to their potential, then they will beat England in the semifinal.
“I think if India play upto 75 percent of their potential against England, they will join New Zealand in the final. My heart and mind are both telling me that India will win,” he added.
India will take on England in the second semifinal at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on Thursday.
