Former Indian wicket-keeper bat Dinesh Karthik reacted to Mayank Yadav’s selection for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Yadav earned his maiden call-up from Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel after impressing one and all.
Yadav had impressed with his express pace in IPL 2024 but an abdomen injury had cut short his season. The fast bowler from Delhi picked seven wickets in four matches for Lucknow Super Giants at an average of 12.14 and an economy rate of 6.99 and also picked two Player of the Match awards.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said, “I think he’ll go 157 (kph). That’s what he’s getting his body ready for. He’s like a Lamborghini car. Once you hit the pedal, he flies. If he is fit, he will let the ball fly.”
Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav has received a bowling contract from the BCCI. According to recent reports, Yadav has been enrolled in a special camp at the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru.
“Mayank hasn’t complained of any pain over the last month or so. He is bowling full tilt at the NCA. The selectors are interested to see how ready he is for international cricket. With the long Test season ahead, the selectors are keen on trying new faces for the T20Is against Bangladesh,” a BCCI source was quoted as telling the Times of India.
Yadav will look to grab his chances if he makes his T20I debut for India.
The three-match series kicks off on October 6 in Gwalior. The next two games will be held in New Delhi and Hyderabad.
