Kamil Pooran has received his maiden T20I call-up for the series against India. Pooran has been added to the West Indies squad after he had an impressive run in his debut season of the Caribbean Premier League for Saint Lucia Kings.

He scored 273 runs in eight CPL innings at a strike rate of 159.34. West Indies will play five T20Is and three ODIs on the India tour.

Jason Holder has been rested for the entire tour, whereas Shimron Hetmyer has been rested for the three-match ODI series.

John Campbell also returns to the ODI squad after missing the last two games against New Zealand due to injury.

WI head coach Darren Sammy highlighted the importance of the upcoming series, stating it would give them an opportunity to fine-tune their skills.

“Playing against the top team in the world presents us with a chance to fine-tune and improve our performances as an ODI team which has seen quality performances across the cycle. The series also creates a valuable platform to assess players who are stepping into important roles for this series with a long-term target of competing in the World Cup in 2027,” Sammy said.

The first ODI between India and the West Indies will be played on 27th September.
