Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reckons some IPL teams will break the bank for Australian all-rounder Cameron Green in the next auction of the tournament. Green has impressed with his skills and he will be on the radar of all 10 IPL franchises.
The lanky batter recently scored 114 runs in two ODI innings against New Zealand. Furthermore, he took two wickets against the Kiwis. Green scored an unbeaten knock of 89 runs in the first ODI against the Blackcaps to help his team chase 233 in a thrilling contest.
Moreover, Green snared eight wickets in the three ODI matches against Zimbabwe at an average of 7.12. Thus, the all-rounder has been in prolific form in the recent past with both bat and ball.
“Just when everyone thought how he would do in the one-day format, he is showing his big-hitting prowess. He is striking them big. He has his sweep shot against the spinners. He has the long hits as well. He is a tall fast bowler too,” explained Ashwin on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin has predicted that some IPL teams think of using Cameron Green in the PowerPlay overs.
“Some teams (in IPL) might think of using him in the powerplay and might go after him in this year’s auctions unless and until he pulls out. I am sure some team will break the bank for him in this year’s auctions,” added the India bowler.
Green has certainly shown the right skills to go a long way in his career but he is not part of Australia’s T20 World Cup squad. Green has only played one T20I for the national team so far but he has impressed in the Test and ODI formats of the game.
On the other hand, Ravichandran Ashwin will be seen in action in the T20I series against Australia, which will begin on 20th September in Mohali.
