“I believe Virat will score a hell of runs” – Suresh Raina ahead of IND vs BAN Test series

Former Indian batter Suresh Raina has predicted that Virat Kohli will score a hell lot of runs in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Kohli has scored 437 runs in six Test matches against the Tigers at an average of 54.62.

The talisman didn’t play in the five-match Test series against England due to personal reasons and he will look to be at his best against the visitors. The right-hander has scored 4144 runs in Test matches in the home conditions at an impressive average of 60.05.

Kohli’s last Test appearance was against South Africa earlier in the year and he will look to deliver against Bangladesh.

Suresh Raina told IANS, “Rohit is a fantastic captain and he proved it when the Indian team lifted the T20 World Cup Trophy. But the focus will be on Virat Kohli’s return to Red-ball cricket. He loves Test matches and gives a lot of respect to them. Leading to the WTC, India will play around 10 matches and I believe Virat will score a hell of runs in this Test cycle.”

Raina added Kohli thrives under pressure and he will look to be at his absolute best in the upcoming series.

“Virat thrives under pressure, and this whole Test season will see him at the centre of action. Bangladesh has strong pacers, but Kohli has shown his prowess against bowlers like Haris Rauf. Challenges boost him, and I expect him to shine.”

Kohli has scored 8848 runs in 113 Test matches at an average of 49.16. The talisman also needs 58 more runs to complete 27000 International runs across formats.

The opening Test match between India and Bangladesh will be played at the Chepauk Stadium, Chennai from September 19.
