Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop has showered praise on Josh Hazlewood for his heroics after Royal Challengers Bengaluru obliterated Delhi Capitals by nine wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Monday.
Hazlewood returned with figures of 4-12 in 3.3 overs he bowled as he played an instrumental role in skittling out DC at 75. The Australian pacer struck thrice in the Powerplay overs, accounting for KL Rahul, Nitish Rana, and Sameer Rizvi.
Hazlewood was also able to get rid of Abishek Porel, who top-scored for Delhi Capitals with 30 runs. Thus, the lanky RCB pacer was awarded Player of the Match for his impressive performances.
Ian Bishop said on ESPN Cricinfo, “Josh understands his body right now, but he understands bowling as well. People talk about the predictability of that back of a good length. It still works for him. He showed in a game in Mullanpur last year with Bhuvi that he could go wide yorker, straight yorker. I think on commentary I said it’s Academy Award bowling or something like that. And he showed with the yorker to Porel at the backend that he has these subtle changes.”
On the other hand, Piyush Chawla praised Rasikh Salam Dar, stating the pacer from Jammu and Kashmir has got very good skillset. The right-arm pacer got the big wicket of David Miller on Monday.
Chawla said during the same discussion, “I have seen him very closely when he was with MI. He used to bowl a lot of slower balls and yorkers, so he has got a very good skill set and a very good mind. He reads the batter. Lot of bowlers have plenty of skills, but they don’t know when to use which weapon. He knows which ball he needs to bowl on which pitch.”
Royal Challengers Bengaluru will next take on Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Thursday.
