Afghanistan’s talisman leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been named as the ICC T20I cricketer of the decade by the governing council. Khan has scalped 89 wickets in 48 T20I matches at an impressive average of 12.63. Furthermore, he has bowled with a parsimonious economy rate of 6.14 in the shortest format of the game. Rashid is currently the number one T20I bowler in the ICC T20I rankings.
Rashid has taken giant strides at the International level and he has made a name for himself in the Twenty20 format. The leg-spinner has a quick arm action and it is not easy for the batsman to pick him. Thus, the Afghanistan spinner has bamboozled the best in the business.
Rashid is known to hit the right line and length and mostly bowls quicker though the air, which makes it difficult for the batsmen to pick his deliveries. The leg-spinner has a lot of arrows in his repertoire and he knows which one to use at what point in the game.
Meanwhile, Rashid has also savoured great success while plying his trade in different T20 leagues across the globe. Consequently, Rashid has been able to savour great success in the shortest format of the game. The leg-spinner has scalped 75 wickets in 62 IPL matches and he has bowled with an impeccable economy rate of 6.25.
Rashid is also named in the ICC T20I team of the decade for his impressive performances. The 22-year old stated that it is a special moment in his career to get the prestigious award by the ICC.
Rashid Khan said in a video uploaded by ICC Twitter handler, “I am speechless after this award and happy for the fans. For someone from Afghanistan to get this award, it’s a special moment for me.”
Rashid will look to continue the good performances for Afghanistan and he has shown the skills to go a long way in his career.
