Former Indian Test opener Dinesh Karthik lauded Jasprit Bumrah after India’s 2-0 series win against Bangladesh. Bumrah was once again brilliant for the hosts as he breathed down the neck of the opposition with his deadly accuracy. The ace pacer returned with impressive figures of 3-50 in the first innings and then bagged 3-17 in the second essay in the second Test at Kanpur, which India won by seven wickets.
Bumrah scalped 11 wickets, the joint-most in the series, in two matches at an impressive average of 12.82 against the Tigers. Earlier in the Chennai Test, Bumrah returned with figures of 4-50 in the first innings as Bangladesh was bundled out for 149.
Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz, “He is the gift that keeps giving Indian cricket. You can see how much the players value him as well. Rohit Sharma, I think he has kept it very simple. When in doubt, call Jasprit Bumrah. If he has any problems in life, I hope Rohit Sharma doesn’t end up calling Jasprit Bumrah to be the problem solver for that as well. But literally, that’s how he has used Jasprit Bumrah. Under pressure – Jasprit Bumrah.”
“Twice in two days, he has bowled jaffas to Mehidy Hasan. It was so good to see Bumrah reverse-swing the ball. Just the sight he is able to produce for the fans. Brilliant. Outstanding cricketer.”
On the other hand, Bumrah has climbed to the numero uno position in the ICC Test rankings as he replaced his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin from the top of the standings.
Bumrah has scalped 170 wickets in 38 Test matches at an impressive average of 20.18 and also completed 400 International wickets during the opening Test against the Tigers at Chennai.
Bumrah will be next in action in the three-match Test series against New Zealand, beginning October 16.
