India’s batter Suryakumar Yadav has admitted that he looks to play according to the match situation when he goes out to bat. Yadav is known to hit the ground running and he has the skills to take the attack on the opposition bowlers from the get-go.
The right-hander can score his runs all around the ground and he has impressed with his skills. Yadav added that one must adapt to different situations and play according to the team’s demands.
The 32-year-old has scored 811 runs in 28 matches at an average of 36.86 and a strike rate of 173.29. The Mumbai batter is going to hold the key for India in the T20 World Cup as he has been in tremendous form in the recent past.
“I try to walk into the ground with strong and energetic body language. When someone gets out, I try to run towards the pitch. In those 30 or 40 seconds, I get warmed up as well and the game plan starts ticking in my mind,” the 32-year-old revealed to Times of India.
“I see the field and try to analyze what they are going to do. So when I face the first ball, if it’s there to go out of the ground, it has to go out of the ground. That is how I like to stamp my authority. It works at times, and at times it doesn’t.”
“Intent is important from ball one. It’s also important how you see the game. If it’s 50 for 4, you can’t just walk in and start hitting. But if it’s 150 for 2, you have to go in and maintain the tempo. My mantra is simple, play the format and situation and if there’s to hit, go for it, irrespective of the pitch.”
Suryakumar Yadav has impressed with his skills and he is going to be a crucial batter for India in the T20I showpiece. The right-hander has scored 567 runs in 17 matches in 2022.
India will take on Australia in the first T20I on Tuesday.
