Indian Test opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is keen to play in-form Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. The Tigers recently stunned Pakistan by 2-0 while playing away and the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led team will be determined to keep up the good show.
On the other hand, Jaiswal had impressed one and all as he had amassed 712 runs in five Test matches against England at an average of 89 and thus was awarded the Player of the Series.
Meanwhile, Jaiswal returned with scores of 30 and 9 in the Duleep trophy clash against India A while playing for India B at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Speaking to Jio Cinema, Yashasvi Jaiswal said, “I think they’ve been playing well. It’ll be fun to match up with them, it’s fun to play test matches regardless. I’m really looking forward to that.”
The left-hander said he always tries to improve himself as a player at the top level.
“I don’t overthink, I just need to prepare well and keep improving myself as a player. The more I repeat these steps, the better I’ll get. I have worked hard to keep up my form and continue to do so to ensure I maintain it. The more consistent I stay with my practice and preparation; my results will improve,” he added.
On the other hand, former Australia head coach John Buchanan reckons Jaiswal is going to hold the key in the Border-Gavaskar series later in the year.
Buchanan said as quoted by Hindustan Times, “There is a lot of talk about that, is not there? He is an exciting young player, and certainly one to watch, but he would be to me one of those examples. He (Jaiswal) has not played in Australia, or at least he has not played in Perth in a Test match on a wicket that bounces.”
“So, his ability to adjust his game to those conditions in some sense might be a barometer as to how India will go through the series,” he added.
The opening Test match between India and Bangladesh will be played in Chennai from September 19 onwards.
