India’s rising all-rounder Shivam Dube has revealed that he has worked hard on his mindset to get the best out of himself in the first two T20Is against Afghanistan. The left-hander scored an impressive knock of 60 runs off just 40 balls in the opening game of the series against the visitors.
Furthermore, he returned with impressive figures of 1-9 in the two overs he bowled to bag the Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
Dube continued his good form in the second game, returning with an unbeaten knock of 61 runs in the run-chase of 173 runs at Indore.
The southpaw admitted he was dominating all the bowlers in the domestic circuit but there is a huge gulf between the domestic level and IPL as well as International cricket.
Meanwhile, Dube had a stellar run in IPL 2023 for CSK, scoring 418 runs in 14 innings at an impressive average of 38 and a strike rate of 158.33. Ergo, he played a key role in taking the MS Dhoni-led team to glory in the previous season.
Shivam Dube said on Sports18, said, “I have worked a lot on it. When I was playing domestic cricket, I was able to dominate all the bowlers, but when it came to IPL and Indian cricket it was not easy as bowlers were bowling over 140km/hr. I worked a lot with side arms, but it is more about the mindset with which I worked.”
Dube revealed he has been focusing on the present and taking one game at a time to get the best out of himself.
He added, “In the past, I have thought a lot about the future. But I have realised that I got to focus on the present. I have to focus on how to improve my skills, so that’s more important to me. I just try to keep myself grounded and try to focus on what I have to do.”
The third and last T20I of the series between India and Afghanistan will be played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Wednesday.
