India’s wicket-keeper bat Ishan Kishan gave credit to Suryakumar Yadav for the way he played in the first T20I against Australia at Vizag on Thursday after the hosts registered a two-wicket win. SKY was able to hit the ground running as he batted at the top of his game to score a majestic knock of 80 runs off just 42 balls with the help of nine fours and four sixes.
SKY once again proved why he is one of the best batters in the T20I format as he took Australian bowlers to the cleaners. The right-hander scored his runs at an impressive strike rate of 190.48 and played a key role in chasing down the target of 209 runs.
SKY also added a crucial alliance of 112 runs with Ishan Kishan, who played an important knock of 58 runs. Furthermore, Rinku Singh held his nerves in the end as he scored a little cameo of 14-ball 22 to take India over the line.
Kishan showered praise on the bowlers to keep Australia under 210 as the pitch was a batting paradise. Mukesh Kumar was able to nail his yorkers in the death overs and conceded 29 runs in his quota of four overs.
“Bowlers did a great job. We were put under pressure… Credit to Mukesh Kumar, the way he bowled,” Kishan was quoted as saying to Jio Cinemas.
“Everyone was eager to do well for the team, especially Rinku – it was his first game against a big team,” he stated.
“Credit goes to Surya bhai for the way he played. He was taking on the bowlers… Plan was to give just 15-odd runs to the bowlers. The ball in which I got out, he was asking me to take a single. The communication was very good,” Kishan added.
The second T20I between India and Australia will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.
