Indian batter Shreyas Iyer said it was mesmerizing to watch Shubman Gill from the other end in the second ODI against Australia at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore on Sunday. Gill is a treat to the eyes when he gets going and he continued his rich form against Australia.
Gill scored 74 runs in the first ODI against the Aussies and then scored another fine knock of 104 runs off just 97 balls in the second ODI. The youngster got off to a sedate start but he was able to change his gears after getting settled at the crease.
Gill scored six fours and four sixes in his blistering knock as he brought up his seventh ODI century. The Indian opener added 200 runs with Shreyas Iyer, who scored a fine knock of 105 runs.
Iyer had the best seat in the house to watch Gill from close quarters and was pleased to see the youngster make the most of his rich form.
Iyer was able to hit the ground running and Gill showered praise on his teammate for changing the momentum of the game.
“The way he came in and took on the charge changed the momentum for us,” said Gill on BCCI’s video.
Iyer also heaped praise on Shubman Gill for continuing his form and getting the job done for the team.
“He has been sensational throughout. The way he’s been converting starts into big scores in simply outstanding. Just to watch him play those strokes was mesmerizing from the opposite end. From the bottom of my heart, I hope he keeps continuing this journey and keep winning matches for India,” said Iyer.
The third ODI of the series will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot on Wednesday.
