Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is surprised to note Yuzvendra Chahal’s exclusion from the three-match ODI series against Australia. Earlier, Chahal was neither picked in the Asia Cup squad nor in the World Cup squad.
Singh reckons Chahal has either fought with someone or he has said something to someone as he is not sure about his non-selection. Earlier, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma revealed the reason behind Chahal’s exclusion as he said they want depth in their batting and thus could not include the leg-spinner.
Meanwhile, Chahal’s current form isn’t the best and it also played a role in his exclusion. Chahal could not get a game in the three-match ODI series against the West Indies before the Asia Cup. The leg-spinner from Haryana has scalped 121 wickets in 72 ODI matches at an average of 27.13 and an economy rate of 5.27 and thus has produced decent numbers.
“Yuzvendra Chahal should have been here. He has not been given an opportunity. It is beyond my understanding. Either he has fought with someone or he has said something to someone, I don’t know. If we talk only about skill, his name should have been there in this team because a lot of Team India players are resting,” said Harbhajan on his YouTube Channel.
The Turbanator added that India needs to continue the winning habit they developed in the Asia Cup. India lifted their eighth Asia Cup title after hammering Sri Lanka in the final by 10 wickets.
“Team India have to continue the winning habit they developed in the Asia Cup. They have the ability to beat Australia as well. The team is slightly weak for the first two matches but I believe this slightly weak team can also come out on top against them,” Harbhajan added.
The former veteran spinner feels India will have to be at their absolute best to beat Australia as they have a formidable unit.

The first ODI between India and Australia will be played at Mohali on Friday.
