Ind vs Eng 2021: I loved Ishan Kishan’s fearless approach – VVS Laxman

Former Indian batsman and now commentator VVS Laxman has heaped praise on Ishan Kishan’s batting approach. Laxman stated that he loved Kishan’s fearless batting style. The 22-year old was making his debut in the second T20I against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Sunday and played without any jitters in his stomach.

Kishan scored a boundary off the first ball he faced in International cricket against Jofra Archer. Subsequently, the combative left-hander didn’t look back and took the attack against the England bowlers.

Kishan smashed 56 runs from 32 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes as he was able to hit the ground running. The left-hander completed his fifty off just 28 balls and batted at the top of his game.

In fact, India lost the early wicket of KL Rahul in the very first over but that didn’t push Kishan on the backfoot as he played his natural game. Kishan added 94 runs with Indian skipper Virat Kohli off just 54 balls as both of them got India’s run-chase on the right path.

“I loved Ishan Kishan’s fearless approach. It is not easy to bat in a carefree and fearless fashion in your debut match. We say that he has played international bowlers in the IPL but that nervousness is there,” said Laxman while talking to Star Sports.

Laxman added that Kishan didn’t let the pressure of the maiden match get to him and played his natural game. In fact, Kishan had replaced Shikhar Dhawan but he was able to stand tall to the expectations.

“Every player has the dream of playing for India, there is a lot of competition and he played in place of Shikhar Dhawan today. But it didn’t seem like this was his first match. He played his natural game, not only on the on-side but he played shots on the off-side as well,” added Laxman.

Kishan had a dream run in IPL 2020 as he had scored 516 runs in 13 innings at an impressive average of 57.33 and a blistering strike rate of 145.76. Thus, he must have grown in confidence after he scored consistently in the IPL for defending champions Mumbai Indians.

Kishan has had a great start to his career and he will aim to continue the same. The third T20I will be played at the same venue of Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
