Former England skipper Nasser Hussain feels English spinners will come into the game if Indian pitches turn a lot in the upcoming five-match Test series. Hussain reckons India will hold the edge if the pitches offer decent turn to the spinners.
India has dominated in their conditions and last lost a Test series in home conditions back in 2012 against England. The spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been lethal in the favorable conditions and they are known to run through the opposition batting line-up.
Ashwin had bagged a total of 32 wickets when England toured in 2021 whereas Axar Patel had scalped 27 wickets in four Test matches.
Hussain believes Bazball can also come into action if India offers rank-turners to England.
“‘I think what India should do is ask for good pitches that spin a bit because I think their spinners and batters will then out-bat and out-spin ours,” Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports.
”If they ask for pitches that spin a lot then it becomes a bit of a lottery and brings England’s spinners into the game. The way Bazball goes about its business, they won’t die wondering,” he added.
“My sense in the World Cup was that a lot of Indian fans are waiting to see how to put Bazball to bed,” Hussain said, predicting an entertaining contest over the next two months.
There is no doubt that England will have their work cut out in the tough conditions and they will have to be at their best to challenge the potent Indian team.
The first Test match between India and England will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad from January 25 onwards.
