Former Indian wicket-keeper bat Saba Karim has heaped praise on Rohit Sharma for leading from the front in the ongoing Test series against England. Karim lauded Rohit for thriving in challenging conditions and getting the best out of his players.
Rohit has delivered both as a batter as well as a skipper against England. The Indian captain scored a fine knock of 103 runs in the first innings of the fifth Test match at Dharamsala, which is his 12th Test century.
Furthermore, Rohit scored a fine century at Rajkot and he has played a key role in the success of the team. The Indian captain has amassed 400 runs in nine innings at an average of 44.44 in the ongoing Test series against England.
“You’ve seen that in Rajkot, the team was in a difficult situation and he came out with a 100. He’s someone who is enjoying the challenges. That is something as an experienced player, you thrive on these kinds of situations. Yesterday, that balance was there, he was in his elements that pull off the short ball to Wood is an indication of he’s doing well,” Saba Karim told Jio Cinema.
On the other hand, former England opener Nick Knight lauded Rohit Sharma for leading with aplomb despite his team being put under pressure by England. India was without the services of big names in the series but Rohit has been able to get the best out of the young brigade.
“I’ll start with Rohit. I won’t necessarily start with his batting because it kind of looks after itself for the moment. But I would want to pick out the leader in Rohit. Five debutants in the series, several senior players, not available for various reasons. That puts pressure on the captaincy,” Knight said.
“Put pressure on how you deal with your dressing room. It puts pressure on how you get the best out of those debutants, and all of that is a massive tick. I have been super impressed with the way he’s led the side with the side that was under pressure,” he added.
India have put themselves in command as they are 333-3, leading by 115 runs.
