India’s rising star Suryakumar Yadav is in the form of his life. Everything that he touches turns to gold these days and SKY is making the most of his purple patch. The right-hander scored a mind-blowing knock of 112 runs off just 51 balls in the third T20I against Sri Lanka.
However, SKY could not get his chances in the ODI series against Sri Lanka as Shreyas Iyer had performed consistently for the team. With Iyer ruled out of the series against the Kiwis with a back injury, Yadav will get his chance against the visitors.
The Mumbai batter stated he is enjoying his purple patch and admitted it is not easy to meet the expectations on every occasion.
Yadav told bcci.tv: “It is fun. It feels really great. Whenever you go to a different city, you are getting that recognition. At the same time, you can forget what you have been doing before achieving all this and how you have reached till here. It’s a little difficult sometimes, but I just try and remain the same.”
On the other hand, the 32-year-old added he tries to play according to the match situation and deliver the goods for his team.
“I think I try and play situations, whatever situation I bat in. If I am batting at 4, 5 or 6, I look at the situation – what the team demands at the moment. Whatever the team demands, I just go through the motions.”
SKY added he is looking forward to giving his best in the series against the Blackcaps and he also loves playing the 50-overs version.
“I have always loved playing this format as well and I am really looking forward to do well in this tournament. At the same time, nothing changes. The intent and the energy remains the same.”
SKY could not grab his chance in the first ODI against the Kiwis as he was dismissed after scoring 31 runs against the run of play.
